Haoran recieved his Ph.D. from the Institute of Neuroscience in Shanghai, where he studied how the multi-stable phenomenon binocular rivalry is processed in early visual areas using intrinsic signal optical imaging in Dr. Haidong Lu’s lab. With an enduring interest in the higher cognitive functions, Haoran joined the Desimone Lab in 2016. He studies how attention is maintained and shifted in non-human primate models using technologies combining recording with genetic manipulations (eg. optogenetics, transgenetic models).
